Reasons Why I hate Modelling
•You have to wait for a ridiculously long period of time
They would ask you to come at the set at about 6:00 am (Which pretty much means earlier than 6:00 am) Then you sit around waiting for hours, until they are ready with the camera's and everything, if you're an extra, you have to sit there waiting for the main model, the main model has it way easier than you as well. But before you even actually get the job, you have to go casting and Oh My God, casting. You sit there waiting for hours and hours, just to go into a room for 5 minutes, act in front of the camera then go home, you don't even know if you'd actually get the job or not and most of the time you don't, trust me on that.
•They discriminate
So for some odd reason, they discriminate you. So if you're the main cast you get special treatment, if you're an extra, you get treated like dirt, they literally look down on you. One time, I got to play the part of an extra and they didn't even give me food, they said that the food was for the main cast and staff only. So my manager needed to go buy food for me and the rest of the extras separately, then they yelled at my manager for buying food outside of the set. There's even discrimination between extras themselves, so there's two types of extras, extras and extra mains. Extras are the blurry ones just walking past the camera, the ones that aren't the main but you can see them clearly, those are extra mains. If it isn't obvious enough already, extra mains get better treatment than normal extras.
• You have to be perfect
What do I mean by this? Well, you have to be tall and skinny, if you're short, you have to be even skinnier, so you don't look fat. You have to have a beautiful face and posture, you have to always act like a missy, you can't act crazy. You have to be able to get along with anyone and be able to take criticism without looking like a complete bitch. You have to be able to act any emotion at the snap of a finger (which is utter bollocks) You have to know English enough to communicate with directors, even if they're from other countries, also know how to understand broken English. You have to be confident but not cocky, you have to be polite but not fake. You have to be a perfect human being
• Deal with Weird Stares
So the other models you meat will stare/glare at you, depends. You see trchnically their rival in the job, but they're also nice people, trust me on that. Whenever I walk into the room, I get people staring at me and also a part of them glaring at me, I don't know why but here are some theories why:1. I look better than them (Lol) 2.They think I'm familiar, this could mean two things, I'll explain it with a single sentence. "It's her again" meaning , why do I meet her every job I go? It's so annoying or it could mean, oh my god, it's her again, this time I'll definitely talk to her! 3. I'm over thinking things and all they're doing is looking at me normally.
•You know no one
You have no idea who anyone is, or they look familiar but you are like me and don't bother talking to them. Once every blue moon you'll meet someone you know on the job but if out have my luck, they have someone that they're closer to than you and forget your existence
•You get put in weird clothes
So I'm not exactly what you'd call thin, I'm just normal, if I eat before modelling then I have the biggest belly in the world. The problem is that THEY ONLY HAVE SMALL CLOTHING or Clothing that makes me look really, and I mean really BIG. Sometimes the clothes itself are weird, like I usually go casting for Middle Eastern roles and honestly, their tastes in clothes are quite weird for me...
That's all I can think of for the time being, If I can think of any more I'll maybe make a part two. I hope you don't get too annoyed at my ranting, haha.
